June – August: The youth program is open all summer with a regular schedule.
Sunday, June 28: Mat cleaning before class and meal at Picante afterwards. The timing is the same as usual for mat cleaning, 12:30pm arrival.
Wednesday, July 1: Virtual Q&A with Nick Walker Sensei at 7pm. We’ll send the Zoom link through email.
Friday, July 3: We are open with a regular schedule (Independence Day is recognized a day early this year, for the work week holiday).
Mondays July 6, 20, 27: Alan Sensei teaches jo and bokken.
Monday, July 13: Azzia Sensei teaches jo and bokken.
Tuesday, August 4: Promotion day in youth class. A student moves up to stripe level yellow belt (also known as 10th kyu B).
Fridays August 7th – 28th: Beginner Series. We’ll deepen our understanding of rolls and falls, learn the four strikes along with response options.
Tuesday, August 18: Family Day in youth class. Parents and siblings age 7 and up can join us for practice. The timing is the same as usual (4:30pm – 5:30pm).
Monday, September 7: Open on Labor Day.
Sunday, September 13: Dean moves up to 1st dan. The demonstration takes place during the regular class (students showing up at 12:30pm and guests by 1:15pm).
Sunday, September 27: Martha moves up to 1st dan. The demonstration takes place during the regular class (students showing up at 12:30pm and guests by 1:15pm).
Monday, October 12: Open on Indigenous Peoples Day.
Friday, October 16: Dojo closed due to a special event. Another group at the studio has a theater performance.
Sunday, October 18: Zoe moves up to 1st kyu. The demonstration takes place during the regular class (students showing up at 12:30pm and guests by 1:15pm).
Sunday, November 22: Christine and Ben move up to 6th kyu. The demonstration take place during the regular class (students showing up at 12:30pm and guests by 1:30pm).
Tuesday, November 24 and Thursday, November 26: Youth class is closed for Thanksgiving week.
Friday, November 27: Open the day after Thanksgiving.
Sunday, December 13: Meal at Picante after class.
Tuesday, December 15: Last class before winter break.
