Aikido Shusekai Instructors

Nick Walker Sensei has been teaching Aikido for over a quarter of a century. His innovative approach to the art draws upon his training in a number of different aikido styles and in a wide range of other disciplines, including zen, yoga, somatic psychology, qigong, butoh, and physical theatre.

Walker Sensei is a longtime core member of the experimental theatre group Paratheatrical Research, and appears in the group's documentary films Crux and Orphans of Delirium, and in various indie feature films, including The Greater Circulation and The Invisible Forest.

Walker Sensei holds a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from California Institute of Integral Studies, and is currently doing graduate work there in somatic psychology. He is a speaker and activist for the Autistic Rights Movement, and conducts aikido trainings for various groups, including at-risk youth and the adults who work with them. He is the founder of Aikido Shusekai and the chief instructor of the main Aikido Shusekai dojo in Berkeley, California.
